My Allie’s funeral arrangements
Thank you for the outpouring of love. I’m incredibly sad, because I miss her so much, but the well wishes from former co-workers and friends has been inspirational. It’s a testament to my beloved.
Here are the funeral details:
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27 at the Pettis Turnbo Funeral Home at 501 W Gaines St., Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; from 4:00 to 9:00 PM.
The funeral will be held on Friday, April 28 at 10:30 AM, at the First Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., on Springer Road.
The funeral will be followed by interment at the OK Baptist Church Cemetery, at the corner of Grandaddy Road and OK Road, Lawrenceburg, Tenn.
If you can make it, I’d love to see you. If not, I’d love to fill the church with flowers. She loved them in life and spent most of the last month planting them around the outside of our house.

Thank you for sharing your grief with us…as we share in it with you. God brought Alicia to you for a reason - as you move forward, always keep that reason in your heart and mind. Prayers are with you and the family.

You don’t know me from Adam, but, I feel compelled to tell you how moved I have been the last couple days reading all of these amazing tributes to your wife. She sounds like the kind of girl everybody would like to know, work with, live next door to, or have as a friend. What a testimony to her life and her memory! We should all aspire to live the sort of lives that would merit such tributes when our time comes.
My prayer for you is that these memories shared by so many will sustain you in the weeks and months to come, as well as your faith and your the love you two shared.

Hi Terry,
I wanted to write you a note to say how sorry I am about Alicia’s death. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Alicia back in collage at UNA and at WOWL TV in Florence Alabama. In fact, she rented a room from my mother, Bobbie Hurt, who was Alicia’s journalism teacher at UNA.
We started our journey in television about the same time and shared many good times. When Alicia started anchoring in Florence, I was her control room director. We worked together for about four years. I’ll always remember Alicia very fondly because she lived at my mom’s house for most of that time and became part of our family. We lost touch when I moved to Washington DC and she started working in Huntsville seventeen years ago, but Alicia did keep in touch with my mom for many years. My mom passed away about two months ago, but she always had a special place in her heart for Alicia. I was glad to have known her and again, I’m very sorry for your loss. Alicia was a wonderful person and part of our family.

After going to the visitation for Alicia today I was reminded of the following poem that was in a grief book that my friend Susan Balof gave me when my brother died at age 39.
The Early Days

A death has occurred and everthing is changed. We are painfully aware that life can never be the same again, that yesterday is over, that relationships once rich have ended. But there is another way to look upon this truth. If life now went on the same, withouth the presence of the one who has died, we could only conclude that the life we remember made no contribution, filled no space, meant nothing. The fact that this person left behind a place that cannot be filled is a high tribute to this individual. Life can be the same after a trinket has been lost, but never after the loss of a treasure.

I am so very sorry for your loss.
My daughter and I were so gratefull to have had the opportunity last summer to share a meal with you and Allie and hear her incredible story. She offered us both real insight which we brought with us back to New York and shared with our family. My daughter also wishes to extend her sympathies.

terry, i have had so many thoughts about alisha the last few days ..fond memeories and the GOODTIMES.we shared . she possessed such a glow despite the problems about every day life. she had the sweetest smile and a guick wit about her that only she could share with others .
she will live forever in our hearts and will truly be missed .
it was an honor to meet you ..such a big piece to the last few months of you precious "allie’s"" life .
